If you're a subcontractor at the second tier or lower, you rarely get to see the project plans, do you?<\/p>\n
Ideally, all subcontractors should be familiar with the construction plan.<\/p>\n
The reason for this is that the foundation of any construction project lies in the construction plan.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We will carry out the construction in accordance with the construction plan.<\/p>\n
This is the main point, so be sure to follow it strictly.<\/p>\n
However, the field is a living, breathing environment, and the situation changes by the minute every day.<\/p>\n
We will carry out the construction work in accordance with the basic guidelines while adapting to the conditions on-site.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, construction management must be carried out in accordance with the construction plan.<\/p>\n

I think the construction crew can adapt fairly freely while still staying on track with the main plan, but the same can\u2019t be said for construction management.<\/p>\n
We will prepare a construction plan based on the standard specifications issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the respective prefectures, and include the management plan in that document.<\/p>\n
Since construction management is carried out based on the construction management plan, anything less than that simply won't do.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not as simple as saying, \u201cJust interpret it however you like and manage it however you like.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For example, managing too many things unnecessarily, or managing things that aren't necessary.<\/p>\n
This doesn't mean anything.<\/p>\n
What the government agency requires is construction management in accordance with the construction management guidelines; no additional management is necessary.<\/p>\n
However, thoughtful management is a different story.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For example, \u201cThis part will be cut out, so even though it\u2019s not listed in the checklist, let\u2019s measure and take a photo of it anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
So things like that are okay.<\/p>\n

What matters is thoughtful construction management, not unnecessary bureaucracy.<\/p>\n
I used to be a site manager myself, so I understand this well\u2014there are a lot of supervisors who engage in unnecessary construction management.<\/p>\n
This wasteful construction management not only brings construction work to a halt, but ultimately accomplishes nothing.<\/p>\n
Unnecessary photos and the work involved in managing them are a waste of time when organizing documents, too. (It\u2019s a vicious cycle, lol.)<\/p>\n
And the reason I do pointless things is because I worry.<\/p>\n
I'm worried about my own construction management, so I end up taking pictures of this and that.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To dispel these concerns, you need to thoroughly study the common specifications and technical manuals!<\/p>\n
Where is what written? How is it written?<\/p>\n
Knowing even just that much will help ease your anxiety a little, don't you think?<\/p>\n
I'm anxious because I don't know.<\/p>\n
Once you know about it, it's really no big deal.<\/p>\n
After that, it\u2019s just a matter of getting used to the inspections, though (though you have to be the general contractor for this part).<\/p>\n
