The other day, I asked a technical intern to replace the seal on a cylinder that was leaking oil!<\/p>\n

The screw thread is stripped...<\/p>\n
This is the result of me telling them over and over again to be careful and do it carefully and thoroughly...<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Specialty items like this are just really expensive.<\/p>\n
I imagine it probably costs around 200,000 to make just one of these.<\/p>\n
Even though there's a language barrier, it's still tough...<\/p>\n
No matter how many times I tell him, he just uses brute force, doesn't he?<\/p>\n
This is really a problem.<\/p>\n
But if you just yell at them and scold them harshly, you\u2019ll end up stunting their growth!<\/p>\n
After I've given you thorough instructions, you can just redo it on your own lol<\/p>\n

It would be a waste to just buy a new one, so I'll have it repaired.<\/p>\n

I'll draw a manga-style illustration like this, weld the screw section back together, and bring it back to life.<\/p>\n
Drill a hole about 10 mm in diameter in the main body, insert the screw portion, and weld it in place.<\/p>\n

I tapped the thread once to see if the nut would fit. (It\u2019s been a while, so I figured I\u2019d use it as practice.)<\/p>\n
The thread cutting seems to be fine.<\/p>\n

We'll do build-up welding around this.<\/p>\n
We got this far last week, and we'll do the thread cutting again on Monday.<\/p>\n

Then adjust the length, and you're done.<\/p>\n
I'll post the finished product at a later date.<\/p>\n
I really am glad we have a lathe.<\/p>\n
If I didn't have it, it would cost me tens of tens of thousands of yen, lol.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But making things is really fun, isn't it?<\/p>\n
Even when it comes to repairs, I can\u2019t help but think to myself, \u201cWe really are a manufacturing company,\u201d lol (even though we\u2019re a construction company).<\/p>\n
