Once August rolled around, the Obon holiday came in the blink of an eye, and before I knew it, it was September.<\/p>\n
The third quarter is about to begin.<\/p>\n
Once the third quarter starts, it suddenly feels like the end of the year is just around the corner, doesn't it? lol<\/p>\n

We sometimes discuss things on a quarterly basis.<\/p>\n
Especially with older people.<\/p>\n

I used to feel the same way\u2014what exactly is a quarter?<\/p>\n
That\u2019s how I used to think about it, but now that I\u2019m on the management side, I find myself paying more attention to it than I expected.<\/p>\n
To put it simply, the year is divided into four parts, with each part representing a three-month period.<\/p>\n Generally speaking, when using April as a reference point,<\/p>\n April\u2013June: First Quarter<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n July\u2013September: Second Quarter<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n October\u2013December: Third Quarter<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n January\u2013March: Fourth Quarter<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n However, please note that the starting point for this base varies by company.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We use this quarter to set sales forecasts and predict trends, but...<\/p>\n Ordinary small and medium-sized businesses like ours probably wouldn't do that, lol.<\/p>\n Actually, I don't do that kind of thing either.<\/p>\n Unlike large companies, we don't have to worry too much about cash flow. (The scale of payments is different.)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n That said, ideally, it would probably be best to have a solid grasp of this material by now, though...<\/p>\n To be honest, I don't really see the benefits that would justify going to all that trouble.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Even if you're just pretending to know what you're talking about, try bringing it up during the quarterly meeting lol<\/p>\n People will probably be like, \"Whoa!?\" lol (Not that I know, though.)<\/p>\n Now, try applying that one-year timeframe to yourself and thinking about it in terms of quarters.<\/p>\n You can use this to reflect on what happened in the first quarter of this year\u2014like, \u201cOh, this happened, and that happened\u201d\u2014and to set goals for the future, too ^^<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It's still hot in August, but let's do our best while staying in the shade!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n See you later.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hello, everyone.
