{"id":49415,"date":"2023-07-14T08:00:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T23:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/?p=49415"},"modified":"2026-05-17T00:33:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T15:33:32","slug":"outdoor-vs-indoor-machine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/norimen.net\/en\/outdoor-vs-housed-machine\/","title":{"rendered":"Exposed vs. Enclosed | The Conclusion Reached After Trial and Error in Addressing Spray-Applied Crack Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, everyone.<\/p>\n<p>This is Enta.<\/p>\n<p>Are there any cracks in the sprayed coating?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-38600\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/2019-03-19-11.23.04-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Mortar, Freezing, Cracks\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You get hairline cracks and sagging cracks, don't you?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 130%;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">No way lol<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I'm sure you've all put in a lot of effort to improve this as well.<\/p>\n<p>Slightly reducing the water-to-cement ratio, adding fibers, adding admixtures, inserting steel spacers, spraying water, or using a forced-action mixer.<\/p>\n<p>I've done just about everything there is to do.<\/p>\n<p>However, there\u2019s hardly any method that can be called \u201cthe best\u201d so far.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have been asked about this issue time and time again by inspectors, the general contractor, employees of the general contractor, and the subcontractor.<\/p>\n<p>However, almost everything I've tried has been a failure.<\/p>\n<p>I say \"almost\" because there have been a few times when I actually got pretty close, lol.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However,<span style=\"font-size: 150%;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The bottom line is: the crack will definitely form!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We will accurately communicate this information to the inspectors, the general contractor, and the subcontractors.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 150%;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">There will definitely be cracks.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, we are doing everything we can to prevent that from happening.<\/p>\n<p>That's what I usually say, lol<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Please don't even think about telling a half-truth here just to make a good impression on the inspector.<\/p>\n<p>Inspectors are professionals, too.<\/p>\n<p>I'm testing the agent's skills. (I'm being a bit mean, lol.) Not that I actually know, though, lol.<\/p>\n<p>Of course I know that. I know it's going to crack.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s mostly the younger staff members who are particular about these things, but I guess that can\u2019t be helped\u2026 (We\u2019ll just have to talk it over.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To begin with, there\u2019s a reason why the small-cross-section concrete products we produce\u2014such as on-site sprayed formwork and sprayed concrete\u2014are prone to cracking.<\/p>\n<p>Simply put, concrete with a small cross-sectional area is easily affected by its surrounding environment.<\/p>\n<p>For example, moisture in the ground or moisture in the air.<\/p>\n<p>Places where the wind blew during the cool morning hours, and places where it blew during the sweltering heat of the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>It's clear that the water content, evaporation rate, and duration of effect are all different, right?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6619\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/5c8273756cd2945d4b4607f6967c3e39-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"Crack Location\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/5c8273756cd2945d4b4607f6967c3e39.jpg 600w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/5c8273756cd2945d4b4607f6967c3e39-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The surrounding environment always has a huge impact.<\/p>\n<p>You might be thinking, \u201c500 legal characters is a lot, isn\u2019t it?,\u201d but,<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at that concrete structure over there.<\/p>\n<p>There are tons of incredibly thick pillars, aren't there?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, while they are unveiled only after being thoroughly protected with plywood and encased in boxes\u2014at a stage when they have reached a certain level of strength\u2014<\/p>\n<p>Our concrete slope structures are left out in the open until they harden, lol (so wild).<\/p>\n<p>Well, there's a very high chance it'll crack, isn't there?<\/p>\n<p>They're treated differently, lol<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6616\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/5553f5b73ceac4b4dcc8bbbcab966975-600x452.jpg\" alt=\"Hair Crack\" width=\"600\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/5553f5b73ceac4b4dcc8bbbcab966975.jpg 600w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/5553f5b73ceac4b4dcc8bbbcab966975-300x226.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It's important to recover as honestly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Since there's no way to stop things from getting in, the only option is to make a V-cut and inject resin caulk.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Even if you apply mortar on top, it\u2019s only a matter of time before it cracks and falls off, so I think using caulk or something similar is a better option, but,<\/p>\n<p>It really stands out at first glance, so it looks kind of tacky...<\/p>\n<p>To be honest, even if we repair it... I'm not sure it'll make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Isn't there any caulk that's the same color as cured concrete??<\/p>\n<p>Or, a repair material that bonds firmly, is strong, resists drying, and has good flexibility\u2014<\/p>\n<p>If you know anyone, please introduce them to me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>See you later.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, everyone.
