When it gets cold, there tend to be quite a few mechanical problems, don't there?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
When it gets cold, electrical system problems tend to pop up quite often!<\/p>\n
This happens when it's super hot, but it also happens when it's cold, lol.<\/p>\n
Well, always, then...<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Well, when it's extremely hot or extremely cold, problems tend to arise ^^<\/p>\n
The problem the other day was the magnetic switch!<\/p>\n
For us slope workers, the most common electrical problem is the solenoid switch, right!?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Since it retains some heat, condensation can form when it's cold, and heat can seep out when it's hot.<\/p>\n
Since these magnetic switches tend to break suddenly, it\u2019s a good idea to set some aside and keep them on hand for our own machines, right?<\/p>\n
Since these are consumables, it's important to keep them in stock.<\/p>\n

This is a magnetic switch.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There\u2019s one important thing to keep in mind when replacing this.<\/p>\n
First of all, the model number!<\/p>\n
The model number shown in the image above is SC-N2, as indicated in the upper-left corner, and it is rated for 200V.<\/p>\n
And the part at the bottom is called a thermal relay; its model number is TR-N2.<\/p>\n
Next is the amperage shown in the yellow section. (The model number is different from the Thermal shown in the photo above.)<\/p>\n

So, this ampere rating is between 12 and 18, right?<\/p>\n
Please set it to the same amperage as the original.<\/p>\n

This is what it looked like before the replacement.<\/p>\n
*Magnetic switches are available with or without a thermal relay.<\/p>\n
Also, please be careful when comparing them side by side, as the model numbers may differ slightly.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We at Slope Works are complete novices when it comes to electrical work.<\/p>\n
So, when you replace this part, be sure to take plenty of photos and replace the parts one by one as much as possible.<\/p>\n
If you make even one mistake, it won't work.<\/p>\n
And if you're not careful, it might catch fire.<\/p>\n
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has never replaced a part before or has absolutely no experience with electrical systems.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve done this many times before, so I think I have a pretty good handle on it, but it still takes a while if you\u2019re not used to it.<\/p>\n
It's important to get used to things, so it's okay to give it a try\u2014but make sure someone who knows what they're doing is watching over you, lol.<\/p>\n

And just the other day, the magnetic switches at two different sites broke at the same time lol<\/p>\n
And it's the same squeeze-type pump, too!<\/p>\n
And the locations are Aichi and Toyama Prefectures!<\/p>\n
I happened to find a magnetic switch at an electronics store nearby, so I bought it and headed off to Toyama! lol<\/p>\n
It was really great that both repairs were finished by evening, so we were able to start the work right away.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
If it didn't work this time either, we were considering replacing it with another machine.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s especially important at times like this to come up with a few strategies and act on them, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
How we handle problems will affect the rest of the construction process.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Because of what happened this time, I've decided to keep a stock of magnetic switches and thermal relays at the office lol<\/p>\n
That way, I won't have to rush around, right? lol<\/p>\n
