{"id":48165,"date":"2022-12-23T08:00:03","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T23:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/?p=48165"},"modified":"2026-05-15T02:40:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T17:40:42","slug":"construction-dx-inefficiency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/norimen.net\/en\/construction-dx-inefficiency\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Construction DX Lacks Productivity | The Drawbacks of Using Different Systems for Each Contractor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, everyone.<\/p>\n<p>This is Enta.<\/p>\n<p>I recently registered something called \"Buildie.\"<\/p>\n<p>Did you know?<\/p>\n<p>Buildie...<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Buildie\" href=\"https:\/\/service.buildee.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buildie<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It appears that the general contractor\u2019s system includes features such as safety management, access control, CCUS, daily reports, and drawing sharing, among others.<\/p>\n<p>As subcontractors, our main responsibility is maintaining safety management records, such as worker rosters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8381\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/businessmanpc3.gif\" alt=\"Computer, Documents\" width=\"369\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, I have to start all over again and enter the employee roster and other information... yet again!<\/p>\n<p>By \"this again,\" I mean on Green Site, lol.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>New systems keep popping up one after another, and every time I go out to a site, I end up having to set them up, don't I?<\/p>\n<p>It looks easy because Excel handles the text wrapping, but the wrapping is actually very half-baked, and<\/p>\n<p>In the end, I had to enter more than half of the data on that site anyway. (It won't import the data even if there are no errors...)<\/p>\n<p>Ended up having to do it twice lol<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45894\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/2021-12-08-12.34.32.jpg\" alt=\"Construction DX Expo\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/2021-12-08-12.34.32.jpg 600w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/2021-12-08-12.34.32-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Digital transformation in the construction industry is extremely labor-intensive.<\/p>\n<p>It just seems to me that they're severely lacking in productivity.<\/p>\n<p>To begin with, there is a form used in the construction industry called the \u201cZenken Form.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why isn't this systematized so that all construction companies can use it at the same time?<\/p>\n<p>Why do subcontractors have to go along with that digital transformation (DX) by using the general contractor\u2019s proprietary formats and the like?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Subcontractors are like, \u201cJust work it out among yourselves, you general contractors!\u201d lol<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is wondering, \u201cDoes it even make sense for every company to be doing digital transformation?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Is it just a matter of each company doing its own thing, thinking that as long as their own company achieves digital transformation, that\u2019s all that matters?<\/p>\n<p>In the end, it\u2019s the subcontractors who end up having a tough time, signing up for all kinds of sites and getting scattered all over the place, you know?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Well, I guess if everyone is told to take on subcontracting work, they\u2019ll do it.<\/p>\n<p>But is this digital transformation really boosting productivity?<\/p>\n<p>I think subcontracting is definitely on the decline, don't you?<\/p>\n<p>Even though we're short-staffed, he's not out in the field\u2014he's just messing around on his computer at the office lol<\/p>\n<p>So, once I made that, the general contractor asked, \u201cDo you have that document?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They even want the renewal documents and the ones from before the renewal\u2014they\u2019re asking for documents I don\u2019t even need to submit, lol.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48166\" src=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5fe77a153ff958d886657c8601349c76_640px.webp\" alt=\"DX\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5fe77a153ff958d886657c8601349c76_640px.webp 640w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5fe77a153ff958d886657c8601349c76_640px-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5fe77a153ff958d886657c8601349c76_640px-600x450.webp 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It must be tough for the people checking it, and it\u2019s tough for us, too, having to double-check everything, get all the documents together, and upload them...<\/p>\n<p>Plus, when you think about the hassle of updating or editing it even after you've made it once, I'm not so sure...<\/p>\n<p>Even though it's work, it's a real pain, isn't it? (I wish we could just use the Zenken format.)<\/p>\n<p>I think anyone who\u2019s ever felt this way will really understand.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 130%;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I really want all contractors to standardize their safety documents using the Zenken format as part of the Construction DX initiative!!!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Construction DX has become a bit hard to understand, hasn't it? lol (Just my personal opinion)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That was just me venting, lol.<\/p>\n<p>There's a major cold snap today, and it looks like things are going to get absolutely crazy through the weekend!<\/p>\n<p>Let's be very careful and work safely!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>See you later.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, everyone.
