The other day, I was traveling from Enta (Iwakura City, Aichi Prefecture) to Izumi (Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture).<\/p>\n

This happened while I was driving on the Chuo Expressway in Gifu.<\/p>\n

I knew it was an unmarked police car, but I passed it at 110 km\/h.<\/p>\n

Of course, since I'm using cruise control, my speed is constant.<\/p>\n

I passed that police car and, since I wasn't in a hurry, drove along at a leisurely pace.<\/p>\n

So there it was, driving quite a ways behind me with its red lights flashing.<\/p>\n

I didn't think anything of it and just kept running.<\/p>\n

The moment I passed the truck and moved from the passing lane back into the driving lane<\/p>\n

Suddenly, a police car sped up and pulled up alongside me to signal.<\/p>\n

I'm driving on the highway at 110 km\/h, and someone is talking to me through a megaphone, but,<\/p>\n

I can't hear a thing lol<\/p>\n

Then, a police car pulls up in front, and its LED sign reads, \u201cFollow the police car.\u201d<\/p>\n

\uff1f\uff1f\uff1f<\/p>\n

The speed is fine, and I'm not talking on my cell phone.<\/p>\n

Wondering \"Why?\", I decided to pull over to the shoulder for the time being.<\/p>\n

The moment I stopped, a police officer started walking toward me.<\/p>\n

I opened the driver's side window with a \"whoosh.\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Police officer: \"Excuse me, driver! I'm not here to ticket you!\"<\/p>\n

Me: \u201c???\u201d<\/p>\n

Police officer: \u201cI understand you were driving at a constant speed of 110 km\/h, but the speed limit on the Chuo Expressway is 80 km\/h.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police officer: \u201cWhen I turned on the red light, you were going 80 km\/h, so I meant to tell you to slow down a little, but\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Since the driver just kept driving, we had to stop him.\"<\/p>\n

Me: \"Oh, I see... lol\"<\/p>\n

Police officer: \"I understand you're driving safely and within the speed limit, but since this is an 80 km\/h road, please comply.\"<\/p>\n

Me: \u201cSo, at what weight would they arrest you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Police officer: \u201cI can\u2019t really say\u2014it might vary by prefecture, after all.\u201d<\/p>\n

After that, the usual routine of checking my driver's license and confirming my destination.<\/p>\n

That's how it felt.<\/p>\n

Based on my experience, I think it\u2019s fine up to 115 km\/h lol (highway patrol car)<\/p>\n

Well, there's nothing better than driving safely, and driving slower is safer anyway.<\/p>\n

However, driving at 80 km\/h on the highway can actually be quite a nuisance.<\/p>\n

\"Shouldn't it be at least 100 km?\" (That's just my opinion, though.)<\/p>\n

Since that happened, let\u2019s all be careful\u2014whether you already knew about it or not!<\/p>\n

If a police car is not approaching with its red lights flashing, this is a warning.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>That's what it means.<\/p>\n

In a way, I feel like this is what the police should really be like.<\/p>\n

After all, it warns you before you commit a violation.<\/p>\n

That's really nice of them.<\/p>\n
