I've been working at a rebar installation site for the past few days\u2014do you know what a \"box cut\" is?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
This refers to the process of pre-drilling holes to make it easier to insert rebar or install ground anchors.<\/p>\n
It varies depending on the job site, but as shown in the photo above, we sometimes use VP pipes and sometimes VU pipes, right?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The most common type is the inexpensive void pipe.<\/p>\n
I really hope they don't go with VP pipes, lol.<\/p>\n
The job site this time was a void pipe.<\/p>\n
As usual, we'll start by cutting out the void and beginning construction.<\/p>\n

We'll proceed with the construction as usual, install the rebar, and finish the job.<\/p>\n

After removing the voids.<\/p>\n
The area around the void is wide open.<\/p>\n
This site is within legal limits, but aren't the gaps around the voids just incredible??<\/p>\n
Depending on the sprayer, some people will first harden the area around the void before spraying the rest.<\/p>\n
I suppose that would reduce the gaps somewhat, but it\u2019s not as if everything would turn out that way.<\/p>\n
Quite often, after voids are removed, the voids expand.<\/p>\n

Since voids rot, we remove them completely.<\/p>\n
In the case of a void, it can be easily removed, so it's not a problem.<\/p>\n
And since we'll be injecting cement slurry afterward, there shouldn't be any problems.<\/p>\n
It fills up completely!<\/p>\n

However, on the other hand, if these were VP or VU pipes, it would be a problem if there were a gap like this on the back side\u2014the part that bears the most stress\u2014wouldn't it?<\/p>\n
Personally, I thought VU meters were a good option because they can break, but,<\/p>\n
Lately, I've started to wonder if Void might actually be the higher-quality option in the end.<\/p>\n
