In ground anchor construction, there are some spots where drilling is difficult, aren't there?<\/p>\n

This happens especially when sand gets blown up into the casing at the anchorage point.<\/p>\n

I've written about this before.<\/p>\n

And once again, there was a particularly challenging construction site where nearly 1 meter of sand seeped into the casing during the final stabilization layer.<\/p>\n

It would be fine if it were just sand, but it\u2019s actually sand-mixed silt, so the silt that dissolves in water gets sucked into the drainage holes and gets filtered out by the sand, lol.<\/p>\n

And then it gets clogged up, so you can't drill anymore, right?<\/p>\n

The tip of the inner part is completely packed with clay, lol.<\/p>\n

\"Grouting<\/p>\n

In such cases, drilling with cement slurry increases the internal pressure, preventing sand and silt from entering the borehole.<\/p>\n

We call it \u201ccementing drilling\u201d here, but it\u2019s also sometimes referred to as \u201cgrouting drilling.\u201d<\/p>\n

It's not a method I'd really recommend, but,<\/p>\n

If it's just the last one, for example, you'll find it's most effective to approach it as if you're going to throw away an entire batch of cement.<\/p>\n

So, instead of injecting it from the machine this time, I tried attaching a valve to the swivel and injecting it that way.<\/p>\n

\"Cementing<\/p>\n

Attach the cheese to the swivel, and when drilling for grouting, tighten the machine side and drill with grout.<\/p>\n

That way, the machine doesn't get very dirty, so it saves you a little time on cleaning.<\/p>\n

Normally, just putting a blind cap on here is enough to solve the problem.<\/p>\n

It's just a little trick.<\/p>\n

Soil conditions like this are quite common in temporary ground anchor construction, and<\/p>\n

It helps to be familiar with various drilling methods.<\/p>\n

There is also a method of drilling by using polymer materials to increase the viscosity of the drilling fluid, but,<\/p>\n

I was worried that impurities might get into the cement slurry in the settled layer, so I decided against it this time.<\/p>\n

It might be useful in rebar installation work when the casing is tightened against a slope, though.<\/p>\n

I imagine there are various approaches based on each company\u2019s past experience, but,<\/p>\n

To ensure the work is done as reliably as possible, I want to tackle challenging job sites armed with solid knowledge, experience, and data!<\/p>\n

I don't mind these kinds of tough jobs\u2014they really stick in my memory, lol.<\/p>\n

Considering the sense of accomplishment I feel when I finish a project, I\u2019d love to be called in for another challenging job.<\/p>\n
