I've been working on the boiler blueprints for the past few days.<\/p>\n
It's relatively easy to draw on a flat surface, but since I'm working with 3D data, I've pretty much forgotten how to use CAD...<\/p>\n
When you're working on something while looking things up, the day just flies by, lol.<\/p>\n
I've been so forgetful lately\u2014I'm no good, am I?<\/p>\n
But that's beside the point.<\/p>\n

I've been installing temporary anchors lately, but the sandy silt is giving me a hard time lol<\/p>\n
Plus, it\u2019s packed pretty tightly, so if you hit it with a hammer, the tip gets clogged.<\/p>\n

On my first cast, I got the line tangled a few times, and once I had to retrieve the leader.<\/p>\n
I was more careful starting with the second one, so I was able to drill the holes without any trouble.<\/p>\n

As is usually the case on any set, I\u2019m always very careful with the very first take.<\/p>\n
And things just aren't moving forward, are they?<\/p>\n
Sometimes, if I go into something thinking it\u2019ll be a piece of cake, things can end up going completely off the rails, so I proceed cautiously and take things step by step\u2014but even then, there are still some minor problems.<\/p>\n
This is particularly likely to occur the longer the drilling length is.<\/p>\n
Even though it was another anchor just under 30 meters this time, and I was being pretty careful, I still got stuck. (Well, I guess it\u2019s partly my skill, too, lol.)<\/p>\n

Clay and silt are really a pain when it comes to ground anchor work.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s kind of annoying when that sort of thing becomes the norm, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
I can't help but wonder, \"Is the circumferential friction really going to be okay??\" and I'm a little worried about how well it will hold up once it's in place.<\/p>\n
If I can just get one to take root, I\u2019ll feel a little more at ease, though.<\/p>\n

Although there is some margin built into the design, so I think it should be fine, there are many cases where it doesn't work out.<\/p>\n
You really need to be careful, especially when the base layer is clay.<\/p>\n
And pressure injection definitely doesn't work, lol (especially with clay and silt).<\/p>\n
(I\u2019m fundamentally opposed to pressurization, and I believe that if you\u2019re going to pressurize, it\u2019s pointless to then relieve the pressure.)<\/p>\n
Clay and silt layers can be quite a challenge in ground anchor construction, in more ways than one.<\/p>\n
Once you figure out the right balance of force (between your favorite character and the hammer), things will go smoothly, so you just have to be patient until you find it, lol.<\/p>\n
