Here are some of the items that caught my eye at the Construction Fair 2020 in Chubu.<\/p>\n

It's a camera with wireless capabilities, isn't it?<\/p>\n
The monitor was connected to the computer behind me, but does that mean I'll have a transparent monitor right in front of me from now on?<\/p>\n
Like the Scouter in *Dragon Ball*?<\/p>\n

I think it will be extremely convenient for us in the construction industry to be able to see the live video feed from the person on the other end of the wireless connection.<\/p>\n

For example, crane operations<\/p>\n
Crane operators often have to work without a clear line of sight.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re currently working solely based on the signaler\u2019s radio instructions, but I think the number of accidents would decrease significantly if we could actually see what\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Come to think of it, it seems like it would be possible to set up a simple camera so the crane operator can see the current situation and give them a monitor to watch it on.<\/p>\n
Even if there's a slight delay when sending data wirelessly, I feel like we could still manage as long as there's audio.<\/p>\n

Next up is this.<\/p>\n
That's the landslide alarm, isn't it?<\/p>\n
Apparently, a key feature of this device is that its radio waves can travel about 1 km during a landslide.<\/p>\n

The device was also quite small\u2014about the size of a smartphone, but a bit larger.<\/p>\n
Apparently, it has a range of 1 km even with obstacles, so it can actually cover a fairly wide area.<\/p>\n

However, after asking around, I realized that, in the end, the amount wasn't really enough to put toward creative ideas and the like.<\/p>\n
Both the device and the receiver are pretty decent.<\/p>\n
It would probably be better if the government set this up.<\/p>\n
Well, I'd guess it'll cost around 300,000 over the course of about one to two months. (Apparently, the price per unit goes down a bit depending on the batch.)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Even if all kinds of new products come out, people won't use them if they're too expensive.<\/p>\n
If it's too cheap, people won't trust it.<\/p>\n
It's a tough balance to strike, isn't it?<\/p>\n
They might get cheaper if they become more widespread in the future, but have products like this ever really caught on?<\/p>\n
Is there already one company that holds a significant share of the market?<\/p>\n
Inclinometers and detectors like this are more of a consulting-type product, so we don't really need them very often.<\/p>\n
