We've been using the construction ledger system for a few days now.<\/p>\n
We centralize everything from time and attendance management to customer management, from budgets to quotes, and from incoming and outgoing payments to employee attendance.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The great thing about this kind of thing is that once you set it up, it makes things much easier afterward.<\/p>\n
With the data standardized, you'll rarely find yourself wondering, \"Where is this?\"<\/p>\n
Plus, it makes it easy to see things like cost management at a glance, and you can see attendance at a glance, too.<\/p>\n
Of course, we also know the cost at that moment.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks.<\/p>\n
The cost of the software. It's actually pretty pricey, lol.<\/p>\n
And the way we do things will be completely different from before.<\/p>\n
This might be the hardest part.<\/p>\n
Up until now, we\u2019ve mostly been using Excel, but since we\u2019re switching to a system, we\u2019ll basically be following the system\u2019s specifications from now on.<\/p>\n
Budget \u2192 Estimate \u2192 Order Setup \u2192 Work Completed \u2192 Invoicing & Payment \u2192 Profit Margin, etc.<\/p>\n
It seems like I have to set everything up in a specific sequence, which is a real pain lol.<\/p>\n
On top of that, it\u2019s this over-the-top software that lets you create a worker roster just by registering employees, vehicles, and employee qualifications lol (It\u2019s a great program! lol)<\/p>\n

I made a worker roster in Excel, then a worker roster in Green File, and even a worker roster for the system...<\/p>\n
Plus, the forms vary depending on the general contractor...<\/p>\n
Well, I'm not going to force myself to build the system, but the thought of being able to centralize everything does make me want to give it a try.<\/p>\n

While it's possible to manage costs in great detail, in some cases that level of detail isn't actually necessary.<\/p>\n
I don't think it makes sense for us civil engineers to demand that level of detailed management.<\/p>\n
The more detailed the work, the greater the workload\u2014but that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean higher profits. That\u2019s just how office work is.<\/p>\n
If the contract amount is small and a single sheet of plywood can make a difference in profit, then it really doesn't matter at all, lol.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Just a little bit is enough.<\/p>\n
One thing I don't like is that the invoice comes out on three A4 pages.<\/p>\n
Our invoice is just one A4 page.<\/p>\n
I've been thinking I really need to do something about this.<\/p>\n
Well, I could just import the CSV file and use a macro to quickly add it to existing invoices, though.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a hassle to try new things, but doing this will make a significant difference in how you handle administrative tasks 10 years from now.<\/p>\n
Administrative tasks are important, but since they don\u2019t generate much revenue, they need to be simple and cost-effective.<\/p>\n
And since this is an important part, it needs to be managed carefully.<\/p>\n
Well, I guess I'll just have to keep struggling with this system for a while.<\/p>\n
