This is a type of chipboard that was somewhat popular about 20 years ago.<\/p>\n
It's that thing where you turn thinned-out wood and felled trees into wood chips and spray them to create greenery.<\/p>\n

Actually, I was one of the first people in the country to implement this construction method\u2014I oversaw the construction and even conducted the survey myself, lol (at Codrato).<\/p>\n
To cut to the chase, it hasn't grown back!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n After five years of research, we found that not even native species were growing there, and it wasn\u2019t until about 15 years later that they finally began to sprout here and there. (The research lasted five years.)<\/p>\n There are mechanisms and reasons why it doesn't grow. (I won't go into that here, though lol.)<\/p>\n Even now, I wouldn't say that area has been fully landscaped, but I guess that's just how things were back then\u2014it was the trend at the time, so I suppose it can't be helped.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n That's what I thought, but recently I came across this sprayed chip coating at a site that's currently under construction.<\/p>\n I was like, \"What?!\"<\/p>\n Spray-on chips these days...<\/p>\n And on top of that, even though we know that landscaping costs money to maintain\u2014and on a newly developed residential lot, no less?<\/p>\n Seriously?? If that's the case, wouldn't it be better to just lay down some grass??<\/p>\n That's what I think, lol<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the back left of the photo above, you can see a layer of sprayed vegetation substrate with well-established growth.
