I was talking to a young field employee at a major company, and we ended up getting really into that topic too lol.<\/p>\n

Well, it seems he\u2019d been reading my articles, so that\u2019s how the conversation turned to that topic.<\/p>\n

\"Consultation\"<\/p>\n

Apparently, he had mentioned to his boss a few times that he wanted to quit.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I hear that his boss is a really nice person who takes the time to talk to him with genuine concern.<\/p>\n

However, in the end, I was talked out of it and decided to keep things as they are.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Actually, if I quit my job, will I end up struggling so much that I\u2019ll wish I hadn\u2019t quit?\"<\/p>\n

I was asked that.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I asked, \"Is my boss a fly swatter?\" they said, \"Yeah, apparently so\" lol<\/p>\n

My boss has already caught \"Fly-Picking Disease\" (a name I made up).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Don't ask Haenuki whether you should quit your job or not.<\/p>\n

I'm not saying that Haneuki is bad, but if you only know that one company, there's no way you can talk about the rest of the world.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s, after all, just a world of the imagination.<\/p>\n

When you talk to someone suffering from Haenuki disease, the first thing they\u2019ll say is,<\/p>\n

1. Don't do it.<\/p>\n

2. You're in for a rough time.<\/p>\n

3. Other companies are even stricter.<\/p>\n

4. Should I give up my current position?<\/p>\n

5. It's a waste to forfeit the severance pay.<\/p>\n

6. Your pay is going to go down, isn't it?<\/p>\n

7. Are you planning to start all over again from the very bottom?<\/p>\n

8. Are you trying to leave your family homeless?<\/p>\n

9. Your wife is against it, isn't she?<\/p>\n

10. What about the kids?<\/p>\n

11. Your parents will be sad, too!<\/p>\n

And so on\u2014there are so many that I could go on forever.Negative Power Words<\/span><\/strong><\/span>They keep repeating it over and over lol<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you're going to ask for advice, start with someone other than Haenuki.<\/p>\n

People who've changed jobs are, in a way, strong! They know a lot about different companies.<\/p>\n

However, since everyone has their own preferences when it comes to workplace environment, not every company that people who have changed jobs think is good is actually a good fit.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, a company that suits a person\u2019s needs is the one where they feel most comfortable.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Based on my own experience and what I\u2019ve heard from various people, I\u2019ve come to the conclusion that changing jobs can only lead to positive outcomes.<\/p>\n

First, decide for yourself where you want to work, then go to the interview and negotiate.<\/p>\n

Since you'll be making all the decisions yourself at this point, you won't let the negotiations go in the wrong direction, right?<\/p>\n

Even if you look at just this part, things are heading in the right direction.<\/p>\n

Even if the company you join goes bankrupt right away, that\u2019s something you can\u2019t control.<\/p>\n

Since that\u2019s just the way it is, there\u2019s no need to even worry about it.<\/p>\n

\"Controller\"<\/p>\n

What I told that young director was,<\/p>\n

\"The idea that you can take control of your own life\"<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

For better or worse, you can control it.<\/p>\n

I think people with Haenuki disease have forgotten about it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Do you remember that mix of excitement and anxiety you felt as a new employee when you started your first job?<\/p>\n

Don't you want to experience that feeling again?<\/p>\n

Would you like to relive those feelings from back then?<\/p>\n

You\u2019d like to go on a little adventure, wouldn\u2019t you? (I just want to go on adventures all the time, lol)<\/p>\n

After a while, you get used to work and find yourself just going through the motions without even thinking about it. (Does it start to get boring?)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I think changing jobs is what brings back that sense of excitement. (Though that\u2019s not the only reason, lol.)<\/p>\n

In Japanese culture, staying with the same employer for a long time is considered a virtue.<\/p>\n

However, with the increasing globalization of the workforce, there is now a wide variety of jobs available across many different fields.<\/p>\n

These days, changing jobs is the norm. (Overseas, changing jobs to improve one\u2019s skills is common.)<\/p>\n

Besides, construction management duties don\u2019t vary that much even across different prefectures.<\/p>\n

Craftsmanship isn't all that different either!<\/p>\n

In the end, it\u2019s the same no matter where you go.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, as I often say,<\/p>\n

It's not about where you work, but who you work with!<\/span><\/strong><\/span>What do you want to learn?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

People in their 30s who are changing jobs should, rather than thinking about working for major companies or local firms,<\/p>\n

If you think about who you\u2019d like to work with or learn from, I think it\u2019ll be easier to make a clear decision about changing jobs.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The regret of not doing something is immeasurable compared to the regret of having done it.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>is what they say.<\/p>\n

When you find yourself thinking, \u201cI want to quit this job\u201d or \u201cI want to leave this company,\u201d first try to consider whether you have any control over the situation.<\/p>\n

And if you ever feel like you can't handle it, consider changing jobs, and<\/p>\n

Ask yourself: \u201cWho would you like to work with at that time?\u201d and \u201cIs there anything else you\u2019d like to learn?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And try as much as possible not to consult with Haneuki.<\/p>\n

In a way, I'm a conservative (though I'm probably going to get criticized for saying that, lol)<\/p>\n

\"Courage\"<\/p>\n

For people in their early 30s, this is a great time when there are many turning points that will shape how they navigate the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n

Will I be able to enjoy life in my 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s? (Will I be able to enjoy my work?)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let's take control of our lives so we can enjoy them to the fullest!<\/p>\n

Corrections and revisions are part of the process, after all. Mistakes are inevitable. Let\u2019s have the courage to stay in control!<\/p>\n
