Hello, everyone.<\/p>\n

This is Enta.<\/p>\n

Today, for the first time in a while, I'm on set right next to the anchor lol<\/p>\n

Since it's a .96-caliber casing, it's a piece of cake!!<\/p>\n

I recently went out on my first sales call.<\/p>\n

When I write it like this, you might be thinking, \u201cHuh? What does that mean??\u201d<\/p>\n

I think that's what people will think.<\/p>\n

I just did my first sales pitch since starting my business. (I called a company for the first time and asked them to let me give them a quote, lol.)<\/p>\n

Until now, we\u2019ve been getting work primarily through specific general contractors we\u2019ve known for a long time or through referrals.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m truly grateful that I\u2019ve been able to keep going this far.<\/p>\n

However, the reason I made the sales pitch this time is that I had provided design and cost-estimation support for that project a year ago.<\/p>\n

So, since I already had a general idea of what it was like, I was thinking I\u2019d like to take on this project.<\/p>\n

So, I checked the auction results, gave them a call, and went there! lol<\/p>\n

I wasn't particularly nervous or anything, but the person who helped me asked, \"Why didn't you come sooner?\" lol<\/p>\n

\"The contractors we usually work with on the design are the first ones to show up!\" lol<\/p>\n

We talked about various things, and since they said it was okay to send a quote, I\u2019ll email the materials.<\/p>\n

I told them, \u201cI have the construction skills and management abilities, but I don\u2019t have any sales skills, so I can\u2019t suck up to people or butter them up!\u201d and they said,<\/p>\n

People laughed at me, didn't they? lol (That's just my own image of sales. I guess nobody does that these days?)<\/p>\n

The person in charge was really great\u2014it was a huge help lol<\/p>\n

Then, a few days later, I delivered the estimate in person instead of sending it by email.<\/p>\n

I also received advice from various people on this matter, and we decided that handing it over in person would be best.<\/p>\n

I actually ended up telling the person in charge about that, too (they laughed at it lol).<\/p>\n

A few days later, I received a call from the site manager, and we immediately had a site meeting; it seems they\u2019ve pretty much decided to go with us.<\/p>\n

To be honest, I don't think sales is a piece of cake!<\/p>\n

Sales is really tough.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>I thought, \"Yeah, that's right.\"<\/p>\n

It starts with the auction results, then I call the other party to set up a meeting and meet in person.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, calculate the costs and prepare the estimate.<\/p>\n

And since this isn't just one job site, it's really a lot of work.<\/p>\n

I thought the on-site team was great. (It\u2019s easier because they know the situation better.)<\/p>\n

Site supervisors have it just as tough, but both salespeople and site supervisors have a tough job.<\/p>\n

If the salespeople don't bring in the work, the site supervisors can't do their jobs. It's a give-and-take relationship.<\/p>\n

People often joke that salespeople and site supervisors are like oil and water, but I actually think they\u2019re essentially the same.<\/p>\n

If either one is missing, we can't do our work.<\/p>\n

I used to think the same thing about salespeople: \u201cHow could they bring us a job like this?!\u201d<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s a mistake\u2014what\u2019s important is having the mindset of, \u201cHow on earth are we going to build on a site like this?!\u201d<\/p>\n

It made me realize that we\u2014the sales team and the field staff\u2014need to work as one.<\/p>\n

I decided to continue doing some sales to attract new customers.<\/p>\n
