I\u2019d like to introduce a technology that I forgot to mention at the recent Construction Technology Fair 2019 in Nagoya.<\/p>\n

This is a non-destructive method for assessing the condition of ground anchors.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a method that uses sound waves transmitted through PC strands to estimate the residual tensile force remaining in the strands based on their resonance frequency.<\/p>\n

Until now, we\u2019ve been creating jigs to apply direct tension to the anchor head for verification purposes.<\/p>\n
Back then, since we needed a large jack or something similar, I imagine it must have been quite a struggle to carry everything by hand at job sites without a crane.<\/p>\n
However, in the case of this test machine, it may be possible to make it quite small.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Eventually, it looks like all you'll need is a vibrator and a tablet, right?<\/p>\n
I think this kind of technology is amazing, and it\u2019s indispensable for research and the like, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
Furthermore, as the scale becomes smaller, the investigation progresses; therefore, we need to assess the structural integrity of the completed slope (cliff) and determine whether or not to carry out additional work.<\/p>\n
It can also perform determinations such as these.<\/p>\n
The problem is the cost, lol.<\/p>\n

I used to conduct pile condition surveys myself as well. (Detecting cracks in piles using ultrasonic testing)<\/p>\n
We'll conduct the investigation over one day and compile the investigation report within two days.<\/p>\n
That alone came to 1 million.<\/p>\n
Given factors like patent rights and development costs, it\u2019s hard to say outright that it\u2019s expensive, but this does tend to result in fewer requests.<\/p>\n
If they became a little cheaper and more widespread, research would probably move along much faster.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not just about doing the construction work; we should also be thinking about things like maintainability down the line as we go about our work.<\/p>\n
It would be nice if I could make something like that, though.<\/p>\n
It might be worth giving it some thought.<\/p>\n
