We're currently working on a site where the clay is too hard for the suspended drilling rig to drill through.<\/p>\n
On top of that, the hole wall won't stand on its own...<\/p>\n
Under normal circumstances, it would probably be better to use a double-pipe system.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
However, since it\u2019s impossible to make design changes at that point, we often find out what we need to know by simply drilling a hole.<\/p>\n
There are mountains that look like they\u2019d be stable, but when you actually drill into them, they turn out to be unstable, or mountains where the clay is so dense that air can\u2019t escape.<\/p>\n
It varies.<\/p>\n
Even if you ask, \u201cWhy can\u2019t you dig it up?!\u201d\u2014you just can\u2019t dig up something that can\u2019t be dug up.<\/p>\n

It can't be helped.<\/p>\n
So, what can we do? We have no choice but to use water.<\/p>\n
We drill the hole while blasting away the clay with water pressure.<\/p>\n
For the through-hole method, attach a water swivel to the end of the drilling rod.<\/p>\n
However, not many suppliers carry it, and you can't get it right away in an emergency. (Plus, it's super expensive.)<\/p>\n

In that case, attach a high-pressure washer or similar device to the air coming out of the drill bit during drilling to use water.<\/p>\n

This air line exits directly from the bit tip without passing through the Euler (oil tank).<\/p>\n
I can already hear people saying, \u201cBut the inside will rust, right?!\u201d\u2014but honestly, I don\u2019t think it\u2019ll have that much of an effect.<\/p>\n
The reason is\u2014as anyone familiar with the machine\u2019s design will know\u2014there\u2019s a single pipe running through the center that carries air.<\/p>\n
Since the air flows through there, it doesn't affect the other gears.<\/p>\n
So I think it should be fine if it's just a few days' worth of water. (At your own risk, lol)<\/p>\n

As long as you make sure to oil it thoroughly at the beginning and end of each day, you should be just fine.<\/p>\n
At the end of the job, it's enough to blow a small amount of oil into the rod using compressed air.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Rather than just saying, \u201cI can\u2019t do it,\u201d I\u2019d like to get the job done on-site by using my ingenuity.<\/p>\n
However, there are some things you just can't do, so when that happens, just let it go and move on to the next method!<\/p>\n
