It\u2019s better to ask and be embarrassed for a moment than to remain ignorant and be embarrassed for a lifetime.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>That's what people say, right?<\/p>\n

Do you know what it means?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even if you feel embarrassed to ask someone about something you don't know at the time, if you don't ask, you'll go through life without ever knowing it\u2014and that's even more embarrassing.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\nThe teaching that one should ask questions and learn honestly, without being embarrassed about what one doesn't know or pretending to know more than one does.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\n\"A momentary embarrassment\" is also known as \"a temporary embarrassment.\"<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This is how it is written in the dictionary of proverbs.<\/p>\n

Can you hear me?Especially people 40 and older!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Those of us over 40 probably find ourselves asking younger people for advice quite often, whether at work or elsewhere, don't we?<\/p>\n

After working for several decades, you should know the basics.<\/p>\n

But you don't remember all of them, do you? lol<\/p>\n

If anything, I tend to forget it. (The brain tucks away information it doesn't use deep inside.)<\/p>\n

Living in an age where information moves so quickly and the world is changing so rapidly, we,<\/p>\n

Are you keeping up with the new information and technologies that are constantly coming at you from behind and leaving you in the dust?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I think there are probably quite a few people who are pretty strict.<\/p>\n

Are you asking young people about that?<\/p>\n

Can I ask a question?<\/p>\n

Did you go home, look it up online by yourself, and figure it out? lol<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you ask young people, they'll tell you right away, and they'll even keep checking in on you afterward!<\/p>\n

Young people today are the most well-mannered since the founding of Japan, so they\u2019re all very kind.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re way more civilized than us old guys, lol (at least that\u2019s what I think).<\/p>\n

Of course, there are some people who aren't any good, but there are also a lot of good ones.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As we get to our age,Playing the know-it-all<\/span><\/strong><\/span>...will also increase.<\/p>\n

We tend to exaggerate a bit when talking to people we aren't particularly close to.<\/p>\n

I think I have moments like that sometimes, too, lol (Weird pride...)<\/p>\n

\"Playing<\/p>\n

Boasting that you can do something even though you've never done it before, only to find out you can't when the time actually comes...<\/p>\n

That's the most embarrassing thing ever lol<\/p>\n

Plus, as you might expect, people who say they\u2019ve done it before naturally have high expectations.<\/p>\n

And if it turns out they weren't able to do that, their reputation will plummet overnight.<\/p>\n

If you've never done it, you're better off just saying, \"I've never done it!\"<\/p>\n

And things like, \u201cI\u2019ve never done this before, but I\u2019ll give it a try,\u201d or \u201cHow do I do this?\u201d<\/p>\n

That's definitely better!!<\/p>\n

The praise you get when you succeed at something you\u2019ve never done before, versus the criticism you face when you claim to have done something you\u2019ve never done and then fail.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s okay if you can\u2019t do it at first; you\u2019ll grow by trying your best to get the hang of it.<\/p>\n

If you work out of a desire to look like you know it all or out of pride, you won't grow at all!!<\/p>\n

Even when we reach our 40s and 50s, we need to continue growing just as GDP does.<\/p>\n

Even if it's just a little each year, it will always grow!<\/p>\n

And the benchmark for growth is who I was last year.<\/p>\n

Compared to last year, what have you been able to do, and what haven't you been able to do?<\/p>\n

Let's grow even more than we did last year.<\/p>\n

If you don't know something, ask! Don't pretend you know!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Just by deciding on and sticking to these few things, you can far surpass last year\u2019s self!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s nothing that adults can\u2019t do that kids can do so easily, right?<\/p>\n

We middle-aged guys can\u2019t just get away with a silly grin!<\/p>\n

Distinguish between what you know and what you don't know, and<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Getting to know yourself is part of being an adult!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve come to realize that about yourself, make up your mind starting tomorrow!<\/p>\n
