It's already the sixth day of introducing our technical interns from Vietnam!<\/p>\n
But I'm already back home lol<\/p>\n
So the number of days is kind of like \"Part 1,\" \"Part 2,\" and so on, lol.<\/p>\n
I definitely can't go that many days in a row. I'd be getting a ton of calls, and my phone bill would get out of hand, lol.<\/p>\n

In this post, we\u2019ll share the candid thoughts of Vietnamese technical interns.<\/p>\n
This is the part about what actual Vietnamese technical interns find most difficult when they come to Japan.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
1. The Speed of Japanese<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n 2. Technical Terms<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n 3. Dialects<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n 4. Shortening<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n It all comes down to words.<\/p>\n They study at a Japanese language school. However, the Japanese they learn there is quite slow-paced.<\/p>\n First, I\u2019ll study Japanese to get used to the language.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n When a Japanese person says, \u201cThis is a pen\u201d<\/p>\n It's the same as memorizing that.<\/p>\n You'll learn Japanese at that level for six months.<\/p>\n And on top of that, they only use polite language.<\/p>\n And then I'll come to Japan.<\/p>\n That's where the hard part begins, but apparently, the Japanese is spoken so fast that they can't understand it.<\/p>\n So, if your company has technical interns, please try to speak as slowly as possible to them.<\/p>\n If you do that, your message is sure to get across!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Next, let's look at the technical terms.<\/p>\n For example, nozzles, spray guns, and packers.<\/p>\n As for anchors, there are a crazy number of them! lol<\/p>\n This is an anchor, that's an anchor, and this one over here is an anchor, too.<\/p>\n There are times when even Japanese people think, \u201cReally?!\u201d<\/p>\n This part needs to be explained carefully and consistently.<\/p>\n Dialects are tough, aren't they?<\/p>\n It's the same for us. Dialects are hard.<\/p>\n He\u2019s an interpreter who finished his technical internship in Toyama Prefecture a few years ago and returned to Vietnam\u2014and he spoke the Toyama dialect, lol.<\/p>\n I thought, \"A Vietnamese person speaking the Toyama dialect? lol,\" but since I love dialects, I actually felt a bit of a connection.<\/p>\n At Japanese language schools, students learn Standard Japanese.<\/p>\n However, since the text is translated into the local language once it\u2019s adopted in that region, it naturally gets converted into Japanese with a strong dialect if the region has a strong dialect.<\/p>\n For example, the standard Japanese phrase \u201cIt\u2019s okay.\u201d becomes \u201cYoka desu yo. Yoka yo. Yoka.\u201d in the Kagoshima dialect.<\/p>\n In standard Japanese, \u201cAre you okay?\u201d is rendered as \u201cYoka desu ka? Yokake? Daijokke?\u201d in the Kagoshima dialect.<\/p>\n Even ordinary Japanese people wouldn't understand that, right? lol<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We Japanese use this final contraction quite casually, but foreigners probably don't understand it.<\/p>\n It's shortened in that dialect too, isn't it?<\/p>\n There are three of them just for \"It's okay,\" you know. (Kagoshima dialect)<\/p>\n They learn to say, \u201cThank you very much.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Japanese people say \u201carigatou.\u201d Some people even say \u201carigatou-san.\u201d<\/p>\n \"You must not do that\" is expressed as \"Akan, no.\"<\/p>\n On top of that, since dialectal expressions are also mixed in with this colloquial language, I think it\u2019s really difficult.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Most Japanese people speak using a combination of kanji, hiragana, katakana, and dialects.<\/p>\n I use it all the time, but it's pretty outrageous, isn't it?<\/p>\n Depending on how you say it, it can mean the same thing or something different.<\/p>\n That's probably why there are so many vague terms, lol.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n![\"Dialect\"](\"https:\/\/norimen.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/main-600x267.jpg\")
