The other day, I was talking with an administrator I know.<\/p>\n
How many years does it take to become a director?<\/p>\n
How I Became a Slope Construction Foreman lol<\/p>\n
That's the job of a site supervisor, isn't it?<\/p>\n
Until I can handle the director's job competently.<\/p>\n
Roughly four years!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n I think it will take at least that long.<\/p>\n Year 1: Learn the workflow. Learn the specifications. Use CAD and Excel.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Second Year: Able to thoroughly read drawings and specifications, and capable of preparing completion documents to a certain extent as a subcontractor.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Year 3: Able to handle a wide range of tasks competently. Able to participate in meetings related to their area of expertise.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n 4th Year: Gained experience as a general contractor; able to oversee the entire construction project. (Received evaluations from other companies.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Year 5: I start paying close attention to the prime contractor\u2019s paperwork. I try to score points.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Year 6: Stationed at NEXCO construction sites and major general contractor sites<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Year 7: Served as a site representative for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n After 8 years: It's just a matter of gaining more experience. You'll be able to succeed anywhere.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n *This is just the author's personal opinion.*<\/p>\n Generally speaking, starting in the fourth year, people outside the company (at other companies) begin to evaluate that person.<\/p>\n \"That person is good at their job,\" \"I'd like to work with that person,\" and so on.<\/p>\n When that happens, that person gains confidence and keeps moving up and up.<\/p>\n If that happens, there'll be no end to the growth!<\/p>\n It\u2019s around this point that construction management really starts to get fun, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n Generally speaking,Projects for Major General Contractors<\/span><\/strong><\/span>I guess so... For example,NEXCO and public corporation construction sites<\/strong><\/span>That's right.<\/p>\n As expected, supervisors at major general contractors are in a league of their own.<\/p>\n There\u2019s a huge gap between high achievers and those who aren\u2019t, but the level of high achievers is incredibly high.<\/p>\n However, the expectations are high, so it's tough.<\/p>\n Once you get the hang of this, any job site should be a breeze.<\/p>\n And then, next...On-site Representative of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism<\/span><\/strong><\/span>That's right.<\/p>\n After all, the standards here are high, and since this is construction on a major route, the ability to see the big picture and<\/p>\n You'll need comprehensive skills to manage the entire process and budget.<\/p>\n As expected, those working on Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) projects tend to focus almost exclusively on MLIT projects, as if they were regulars.<\/p>\n No matter which construction office I go to, I always run into them at the weekly progress meeting at the end of the week.<\/p>\n Before I knew it, the drinking party with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism rep was about to start, lol.<\/p>\n Since we have things in common and share the same concerns, it\u2019s bound to be a fun gathering, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n Actually, it takes more time to train a site supervisor in construction management than it does to train construction workers.<\/p>\n Since I'm on the administrative side, this is the kind of opinion I end up expressing, but I suppose most administrators would say the same thing, wouldn't they?<\/p>\n There are so many different things to learn.<\/p>\n There are just so many of them.<\/p>\n Planning, budgeting, scheduling, complaint handling, construction management, safety, design, computers, transit instruments, levels, drones, and more<\/p>\n You can't be a director unless you have a general understanding of certain things and know them to a certain extent.<\/p>\n What's more, there are many sections where you really need a lot of experience points.<\/p>\n What's even more serious than the shortage of skilled workers isShortage of Administrators<\/span><\/strong>I suppose so.<\/p>\n If there's no one to manage things, the work on-site will definitely not move forward.<\/p>\n This will result in a situation where the work cannot be completed by the craftsmen alone.<\/p>\n The reverse is also true, but there will be a massive shortage of administrators.<\/p>\n The government is trying to address the shortage of skilled workers by bringing in foreign workers and others, but when it comes to engineers...<\/p>\n I can't help but feel that jobs tend to go to companies that have a certain number of construction managers.<\/p>\n It\u2019s scary to think that if we don\u2019t start training managers now for five years down the line, we\u2019ll end up in a bad situation.<\/p>\n See you later.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hello, everyone.
