This is my 23rd spring since I entered this industry.<\/p>\n
At that time, I was working on a project in Kitakyushu with a senior colleague at the Kyushu Branch.<\/p>\n
The project covered an area of approximately 3,000 m\u00b2 within a 300-meter slope and included slope greening. Construction proceeded by cutting down from the top to the bottom in conjunction with earthwork, while simultaneously finishing the slope face as work progressed.<\/p>\n
It feels like we're carving our way through the mountain.<\/p>\n
Through that process, I gradually learned how to do things one by one\u2014taking measurements, drawing blueprints (by hand), and creating photo albums.<\/p>\n
Back then, I didn't have any happy memories\u2014all I could think about was, \"When should I quit?\" lol<\/p>\n
I guess I was basically working just to have fun.<\/p>\n
I worked to have money for fun, and I figured I could quit anytime if things got tough.<\/p>\n
My paycheck was gone in a week, lol.<\/p>\n

There was a news story recently about freshmen saying on Twitter that they wanted to quit as early as their first day.<\/p>\n
It's just like me... There isn't that much of a difference between young people back then and young people today, is there?<\/p>\n
I was like that too, though now I'm totally into slope construction, lol.<\/p>\n
When it comes to work, before you know it, there comes a time when it\u2019s actually fun, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
Even if you do it reluctantly, once you keep at it, you start to see the fun in it, don't you?<\/p>\n
I didn't like my boss, but I really enjoyed interacting and talking with the craftsmen.<\/p>\n

Even though they told me, \u201cThat\u2019s part of the job,\u201d we ended up arguing over which was more important: making money on the job or filling out paperwork in the office? lol<\/p>\n
For all meaningless, routine documents, I create macros in Excel to generate them in bulk or apply random coefficients.
\n I used it to make something that looked the part.<\/p>\n
But since the main goal was just to get it submitted, my boss\u2019s review was pretty cursory, lol.<\/p>\n
Come to think of it, there are still parts of our internal documents that say \u201c???,\u201d aren\u2019t there? (I think people at big companies will know exactly what I mean, lol.)<\/p>\n
That said, there are definitely some internal documents that are absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n

Well, in this day and age, when we\u2019re increasingly finding ourselves in a position where we have to say, \u201cWe\u2019re counting on you young people for the future!\u201d I\u2019d recommend getting along with them while you still can, lol.<\/p>\n
After all, it\u2019s likely that in another 30 years, there will be quite a few jobs that we (people aged 30 to 50) don\u2019t even know about yet, and<\/p>\n
There are bound to be some jobs that make people say, \u201cThat brings back memories, doesn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n
After all, we\u2019ll need to learn that from young people.<\/p>\n
