The other day, I was talking to the president of a manufacturing company I know, and he told me that his company uses \u201ccampaign girls\u201d to promote its products.<\/p>\n

Well, basically, they\u2019re just there as a bit of decoration\u2014they\u2019re supposed to stand there\u2014but apparently, when my customers (camera enthusiasts) come by, they head to a spot with a good background to take pictures.<\/p>\n

Apparently, that really pisses him off lol. He said he thinks, \u201cIf you\u2019re going to do that, you should at least introduce the products a little more!\u201d lol<\/p>\n

Is it part of a \u201ccamp girl\u2019s\u201d job to stand out? I guess that\u2019s just how it is?? Or maybe not\u2026 When I asked about it,<\/p>\n

Since \"can gals\" are temporary agency workers, I hear they're paid on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

Basically, I'm just a day laborer, lol.<\/p>\n

It's treated the same way as the standard one, isn't it?<\/p>\n

So it's just like our industry, huh? lol<\/p>\n

It\u2019s like, are they day laborers working on slopes, rebar workers, or \u201ccamp girls\u201d?<\/p>\n

Apparently, you can request a specific hostess. By the way, the price starts at 15,000 yen and varies depending on popularity.<\/p>\n

But that's beside the point.<\/p>\n

In a recent issue of the Construction Industry News, \u201cAt a press conference following the Cabinet meeting on the 24th, Keiichi Ishii, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, announced a policy aimed at ensuring a two-day weekend system in the construction industry, stating, \u201cWe will take the lead by starting with projects under our direct jurisdiction. Beginning next fiscal year, we will strive to award construction contracts with project schedules that allow for a two-day weekend.\u201d<\/strong><\/span>\u300d<\/p>\n

That's what I've heard.<\/p>\n

I suppose the construction period will be extended somewhat, and the contract price will go up, too. Probably...<\/p>\n

But what worries me is: Won't our national power decline?<\/p>\n

Productivity just keeps dropping, doesn't it?<\/p>\n

There's no way a regular private company would raise salaries when employees aren't even working, right?<\/p>\n

Work hard, earn lots, and spend it all!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This is how money circulates. This is what it means for the economy to improve, right?<\/p>\n

Money circulates among everyone, so we work hard and get paid for it.<\/p>\n

I bet more people will start working part-time once we switch to a full two-day weekend system.<\/p>\n

I never thought that, in the end, the construction industry would end up like this just because the media kept bandying about the term \u201cexploitative company\u201d...<\/p>\n

Personally, I think that if you work at a \"black company\" and then move to a normal company, you'd be like an elite, ready-to-go employee who can hit the ground running...<\/p>\n

Speaking from my own experience, I was one of the first to be dispatched to the site of the Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake, where I worked on slope stabilization.<\/p>\n

Materials aren't coming in, there aren't enough workers, spray coating during the day, rock bolts at night, and drafting the agreement and paperwork late at night lol<\/p>\n

I did that for about half a year.<\/p>\n

When I can sleep, I break up a two-hour car ride into several short naps.<\/p>\n

It seems like every director was working almost 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n

Of course, my salary didn't change lol. I was just a regular office worker, after all.<\/p>\n

Well, I did put in some overtime and stuff.<\/p>\n

After that, I\u2019ll go back to my normal life, but,<\/p>\n

Regular jobs are a piece of cake.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019d worked on set through such tough times\u2014sometimes barely even able to afford a meal\u2014that I developed this weird confidence, and regular shoots felt like a breeze lol.<\/p>\n

So, based on my experience, I guess once you\u2019ve had that kind of experience even just once, you get this feeling that you can do anything.<\/p>\n

When you think about it that way, maybe those \"black companies\" aren't so bad after all? lol<\/p>\n

Well, of course, it\u2019s better to have more days off and a higher salary, but under the current policy...Your pay will definitely go down.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll be keeping an eye on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism\u2019s next moves.<\/strong><\/p>\n
