This might come as a surprise, but I used to work in the construction department lol<\/p>\n
It was standard practice for the Construction Department to take over and carry out the work secured by the Sales Department.<\/p>\n
Whenever we landed a job with tough conditions or low profit margins, I used to think, \u201cWhy did they go and take on a job like this?!\u201d
\nWhat really struck me was that the profits from that site directly affect the performance evaluations of the construction staff in charge.
\nHe said, \"Man, that really pisses me off,\" lol.<\/p>\n
From a salesperson\u2019s perspective, they\u2019re really annoying contractors, aren\u2019t they? lol<\/p>\n
But there came a point when I realized just how amazing salespeople really are.<\/p>\n

That salesperson was apologizing to my boss on behalf of the project that hadn't generated much profit.<\/p>\n
When I saw that, I thought, \u201cWhoa. What the hell was I doing!? I\u2019m such a jerk!\u201d<\/p>\n
Wait...<\/p>\n
So, after that, we started accepting any jobs the sales rep brought in, but,<\/p>\n
It turns out that as long as you're mentally prepared, you can handle anything, no matter what the situation is, lol.<\/p>\n
Profits just keep rolling in. It's a strange thing, really.<\/p>\n

Contractors don't know anything about sales.<\/p>\n
Despite that, construction workers (technicians) look down on salespeople a little.<\/p>\n
\"You haven't done anything,\" \"What do you even do all the time??\"\u2014that kind of thing, lol<\/p>\n

But when you really think about it, the ability to put those skills to use only comes into play once a salesperson has secured the deal.<\/p>\n
You can't really say that \"technology comes before sales,\" can you?<\/p>\n
We can't get any work done unless the sales team sells our technology. The contractors just don't get that...<\/p>\n

What I mean is...Lately, I've really been feeling it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Especially since I don't have a job, lol<\/p>\n Salespeople are awesome!!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Getting the job... Wow!<\/p>\n A hands-on techie on the front lines couldn't do that!!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Try to see things from that person's perspective.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Even if I don't understand that person's perspective, I'll try to imagine it.<\/p>\n We visit the general contractor over and over again, communicate with them, and bow our heads to secure the work.<\/p>\n When I think about it, \"Can that really be done?\"...
